Torit Mayor Joseph Oswaha has revealed plans of shifting the bus park in Omoliha market for passengers boarding to Magwi, Nimule and to Juba to Ibalany.
He also reveals that the bus park for Torit-Kapoeta will be shifted to Labalwa junction, Radio Emmanuel reported.
Oswaha says the strategy is to minimize congestion and confusion in the park.
“I want to relocate the Bus Park for the vehicles that move from Magwi and Juba to be relocated here let it not be in Torit. And for Kapoeta I will relocate it to Labalwa road. Soon police post will be here, Bus Park within the town is not okay because it is causing confusion a lot. If this place is develop, this high way soon you will see some companies will come and raise all those places, there is need for construction of depots and malls all these place will be built out and by one or two years you will see”, he explains
Aadvisor to the Governor on Economic Affairs, German Charles Ojok supports the plan, stating that relocation will create development in the area.
“The only strategic place as we are talking is only between the junction of Juba and Magwi. Lodges will be build there because people will be travelling from somewhere need to sleep and eat there. It also an opportunity to create internal transport, there will be transport from Fotur Mafii to Torit Town and from Torit Town to Fotur Mafii. If you want to go to Juba you will use mini bus, this bus will take you from Torit to Fotur Maffi and thereafter you will proceed to Juba, which means we are creating work for drivers who only wait to go to Juba and this will reduce the cost of motorcycle fee because if you want just to go nearby place motorcyclists will charge you with 500 SSP, 300 SSP or 400 SSP which force you to pay, and if we use buses it is just only 100 SSP, or 50 SSP which one is good please”, emphasizes.
The speakers made the remarks when UNMISS was handing over three classrooms to Ibalany community on Monday.
