Sudan and South Sudan border is expected to officially re-open on 1st of October this year, says Lieutenant Atem Marol Director-General for Nationality, Passport and Immigration.

He revealed to journalists on Wednesday that President Salva Kiir and the Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok agreed that four areas of the border will officially re-open.

Lieutenant Marol said officers to be deployed to the borders are now under training to be able to do their work effectively.

“So we are preparing now, we are training our officers and that is the reason we went to Khartoum and this month IOM will be organizing for the same training. They will come from Khartoum to South Sudan”, he explains.

The Director-General also disclosed that two governments agreed that people will use travel documents to ease movements of people and goods.

The director-general spoke to the journalists on Wednesday in Juba, Central Equatoria State.
