The Minister of health Dr. Elizabeth Achuei appeals to the citizen to turn up in good number to receive the vaccine against Covid-19.

She urges people to take the opportunity by coming forward to get vaccinated especially the elderly persons, people with heart diseases, and diabetes among others.

“My people, the community take this opportunity to come forward. Our people over there, we don’t want really to waste time. Covid-19 is around here, it’s real. So even if we don’t see it the way we see it in other countries doesn’t mean that we don’t have the disease or the illness. And therefore if this opportunity comes across, don’t waste it, you come. Especially with elderly people, people with heart disease and diabetes you come this is your time. And now am appealing to you. This vaccine we receive yesterday, the lifelong is very short, it’s not like the other one before”, she appeals.

Undersecretary Dr. Victoria Anib Majur applauds the high turn up of citizens lining up to take the vaccine.

She acknowledges the support by WHO, African Development Bank and other partners to help improve the fight against Covid-19 and diseases in a long run.

“I was at the facility [Juba Teaching Hospital] and I was really happy to see a number of people lining up taking the vaccine. That means the vaccine hesitancy is no longer there. And that’s a huge milestone that we could not have achieved without the support of our partners”, said Anib.

Government of France through World Health Organization and Covax Facility gave to South Sudan 60,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines on Tuesday.

The speakers made the remarks during the official hand over of oxygen plant and two cars on Wednesday, at the Public Health Emergency Center in Juba.
