Migration orders officers not to search foreigners, but talk to their leaders

The Director-General for Nationality, Passport and Immigration advised immigration officers to suspend silent search for foreigners and use a new simple modality for them to process valid documents.

Lieutenant Atem Marial on Wednesday ordered officers to engage with their community leaders for all foreigners to have new residential documents in South Sudan.

He e also directed the high committee to move within Juba and talk to the embassies for foreigners to get all required documents in the country.

“I will direct the high committee headed by my deputy, to move also to talk to the embassies, so that embassies inform their people to come by themselves for registration, the reason we are doing registration we want to stay with the people we know, it’s very clear now must of the people they don’t have documents and has I mentioned before we are not chasing them away” Lieutenant Marial explains.

The Director-General calls on the officers to avoid putting on police uniforms when they go to the community leaders or embassies because it can create fear in them.

The Nationality, Passport and Immigration Director-General announced to the public that from September 15, passports will be available and people can process.
