A Catholic priest in the Diocese of Torit is encouraging the faithful to value the importance of baptism to Christian life.

Fr. Martin Vuni says the physical dimension of receiving the Eucharist is for the spiritual life.

“My dear brothers and sisters you know that baptism is important and baptism cannot be wished just like that. Baptism requires water to be poured on the body, on the physical body of a human being, who has a spiritual aspect of God cleaning and giving birth to that person take place spiritually. There should be a person who says I baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit that has to be done. Here the physical dimension is receiving this Eucharist in your hand or in your mouth. This is so simple for our spiritual life, our spiritual communion with Jesus”, Fr Vuni added.

Baptism is a Christian rite of admission and adoption, almost invariably with the use of water, into Christianity. It may be by sprinkling or pouring water on the head, or by immersing in water either partially or completely.

The priests made the statement at our Lady of Holy Rosary.
