She says people living with disabilities are left behind in very many issues in the country.

“You have strong voice as journalists to bring up the rights of people living with disability people should not estimate the disabled ones they should be treated as people living without disability and to end this is only thorough you journalists.”, Mbaraza notes.

The director says the reason for involving journalists for this training is because they are the eyes of people and they hear what common people cannot see.

Principal of Media Development Institute, Irene Ayaa, who facilitated the course calls on journalists to always represent persons with disabilities and advocate for strategies to overcome stereotype and misrepresentation in South Sudan.

Ayaa says disabled people are called in very many way people do call them and this discourage and the media can inform people that this group is very important and should be considered as the able people.

The speakers made the remarks during the first day of inclusion training under the theme: “Together for inclusion promoting the rights of persons with disabilities, inclusive education and access to services for all” on Thursday in Juba.
