Leadership of South Sudan Peoples Defence Forces or SSPDF on Tuesday handed to Yei River County Commissioner a National Salvation Front soldier who was arrested and detained since March 2020.
The SSPDF Civil Military Relation Director Michael Machar told the media during handing of the detainee that it is their mandate to ensure safety of civilians, Radio Easter reported.
He urges soldiers not to arrest civilians without any prove but protect lives and property of the civil population.
Machar warns soldiers against arresting people moving at night as it is the responsibility of the joint operation team patrolling the town.
Machar adds that two other Congolese nationals were also arrested in a military operation in Akepa.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Aggrey Cyrus Kanyikwa expressed gratitude to the SSPDF for setting the detainee free.
He commended the efforts of detainee for abandoning activities of the National Salvation Front.
