Eastern Equatoria State Police Spokesperson confirms that eight passengers have allegedly been robbed by gunmen wearing military uniforms along Juba-Torit Road in Lolere Bridge on Saturday.
Major Justine Kleopas Takuru says the robbers went away with six phones and an estimated amount of one hundred and thirty eight thousand South Sudanese Pounds.
“Some people came and complained at 3pm coming from Juba with a business car- Noah, the driver is called Jorgi 29 years old. He said he started his journey in Juba at around 11am and when he reached Lolere almost to the community, two people appeared to him with guns and military uniform. These two people stop the car and
take 6 phones and some people were having money in their bags, these money are all taken. The robbers got one of the youth among the passengers, when he asked the robbers that we are all brothers and we are South Sudanese. The robbers beat this boy and they injured him on the head. The passengers also said they saw some
people a few meters away from the scene. There were about ten to eleven people. The robbers put on SSPDF uniform and they were all masked only their eyes were shown”.
In a related story, unidentified people attempted to rob some residents in Inkas residential area on Monday at around 3am.
“We received the information at around 3am in the morning that there were people who came and knocked on the door of one of the residents in Inkas and checked the house of the neighbour and entered the compound of the other neighbour because they found the other door was locked. The first neighbour whose door was first knocked started to call for us and I immediately communicated with the patrol team when they found that the people had already gone.”
“In the morning at around 6:30 am we receive the report from one caller Foni Christine came and report that this people knock her door and she was having the Car standing they try to open the vehicle but
they did not succeed and in others woman’s compound these people enter in her home and they knock the door as she is to open because her home is open in the morning when the CIDs and the inspector went to assess they found the sign of Soldier shoes this mean it is the Soldiers”.
Kleopas advises citizens to be calm as the security forces work to calm the situation.
“Our supervisors and our brothers in national security are working tirelessly. People should not fear. the security will be calm, most of the resident of Inkas, Ifwanyak and Odikolong these are the dangerous areas to us but the security will come to normal this morning the meeting that have been conducted people has not to fear because
they will live in peace and our forces are for protection”.
