Authorities in Juba County of Central Equatoria State have cancelled the use of tokens in the process of allocating land to people.
In a media briefing, Juba County Commissioner, Charles Joseph Wani says the use of tokens causes confusion among people, Bakhita Radio reports.

Commissioner Wani calls for collective efforts from the state, national and security operatives to end land grabbing especially in the Amadi area.

He clarifies that the government has not allocated land in Amadi area for the public.
The Commissioner urges the public to stay away from any land allocated in Amadi by what he terms as “Criminals”.

Wani also describes the people allocating the land as “Scammers” who only want to extort money from the public.

Last week, residents of Juba gathered at Check Point and Amadi area to acquire land which was sold at a price ranging from 5000 to 25000 SSP.

However, the state government claims that the land is being allocated by land grabbers, where 24 of them have been arrested awaiting trials.
