The Toposa community in Kapoeta East County in Eastern Equatoria State and Turkana in Kenya have reconciled and accepted to co-exist peacefully among themselves.
The peace talks that were held early this month resolved the tension between the two neighbouring communities of Toposa and Turkana.

Speaking to Radio Emmanuel, Commissioner Abdallah Angelo says they discussed about the border issue facing the communities.
He calls on the two tribes to leave all matters concerning the border, to South Sudan and Kenyan governments.

“We are now staying with Turkana now, because we went and discussed with them, on how we can develop ourselves Toposa and Turkana, because we are one family, one tribe they stayed one, we discuss with the government in Kenya on the issue of the border at Nadapal, we agree that the issue of the border shall be left out, the Kenyan soldiers were just left to stay there to maintain security of the border during the agreement between South Sudan and Kenya in 2009, but now they want to stay and build their houses’ there, we discussed with them that for any problem like conflict, fighting between two communities we send report to juba and Nairobi to draw the border”.

Commissioner Angelo advises Toposa and Turukana communities to stay in peace.

“The citizens who do still the iron sheets, we discussed with them and come up with roles no one should go and still iron sheets from Kenya, this issues were not stealing but the people of Toposa say the Kenyans want to steal or chase them out of Nadapal or nahodo up to Loyoro, we discuss with them that this issues will bring fighting, we discuss with them that this issue should not be there, we discuss and told them that at least Toposa and Turkana should be in Peace”.
