Monyomiji Forum petitions NGOs, UN agencies over unjust employment

The Monyomiji Forum of Torit, Ikotos and Lopa, have written a petition letter to all NGOs, UN Agencies, including UNMISS and companies, operating in the three areas, for unjust employment.

In a two-page petition letter seen by Radio Emmanuel, the youth say the organizations are bias in the recruitment process.

In the petition letter, the young people demand for immediate termination of some of the workers’ contracts, who are not from Monyomiji communities to balance the employment.

They say 80 percent of the employment vacancies should be taken by the indigenous.

They vow not to listen to any verbal communication unless the organizations adhere to their demands.

Some members who spoke to Radio Emmanuel on condition of anonymity say the natives lack employment opportunities despite of their qualifications.

Another anonymous member says the communities are forced to petition the NGOs because of delayed response from the government over the issue.

Two weeks back, the Monyomiji from the communities of Torit, Lopa and Ikwoto wrote a petition letter to the State Ministry of Labour, Public Service and Human Resource Development, over unjust employment in the state
