Head of Torit field office for Resilience Organization, Salome Candia, called for unity and togetherness among all South Sudanese in the country.
She urges South Sudanese to avoid tribalism because they are one people; they should fight their common enemies instead of looking at their differences.’
The official calls on citizens to fight against insecurity, hunger so that they can build up the education system and upgrade the standard of the health facility in the nation.
Acting Director-General in the Ministry of Peace Building, Paul Jalingo calls for formation of peace clubs in schools to promote peace and erase discrimination.
“To bring our community to be in one identity, it needs actually all of us to think [on] how we can bring end to this discrimination and way forward, we need actually to start from our young generation the children, peace building or the peace clubs should be from within the schools and within the curriculum, the syllabus for peace building should be also included in our schools, otherwise if not, you will find this discrimination will not take us, we are all one South Sudanese”, he says.
Executive Director for Women Association in Torit, Angelina Bernardino Jacob, appeals to citizen to respect each other’s tribes and avoid hate speech which hinders unity in the state and the country at large.
“We must respect ourselves as the south Sudanese, and all the tribes that God created to live in south Sudan, the tribe is to be respected like any other tribes, mistake of one person should not affect the entire tribes and there is nothing impossible before God, every tribe got the right to participate and play their roles, have the right to share everything in South Sudan in any way, if we come together and we respect ourselves, I hope there will be no problems, if we respect the tribes and consider it one, there will be nothing to separate us and if we can understand ourselves knowing a person has the right to share idea I hope we will make good relationship which will show the right image of the southerners even when they are outside”, she pleads.
Meanwhile Mama Grace, one of Radio Emmanuel’s callers, says leaders should consider all people equal and avoid tribalism.
“The leaders should not differentiate the people, they should consider people as one, sometimes you go somewhere and you are asked where you are from? Which tribes are you, and if someone is mention by tribe will lose hope and begin to hate you immediately after listening, such manner is not good, let us know that we are all south Sudanese, though you have a problem with a certain tribe, the individual has no problem with you”, she urges.
The speakers made their remarks to Radio Emmanuel in the morning breeze program on Wednesday during a talk show on identity.
