Police says forces at Hai Kamsin have no authority to detain civilians

The police commissioner of Western Bahr El Ghazal state says forces that are at Hai Kamsin residential area have no authority to register cases and detain people.

Samuel Ajoung Chaur points out that those forces are there only waiting to be taken to the training sites and do not have any authority to detain and register any criminal case.

He adds if there are cases that have been opened at Hai Kamsin, these cases are considered illegal.

The police commissioner advises civilians to open a case at a police station.

There has been report about an illegal detention of civilians, torture and threats among many other inhuman acts at Hai Kamsin and the surrounding areas.

However the Head of Forces in Hai Kamsin are yet to comment on the matter

The police commissioner made the remarks to Voice of Hope Radio at the Police Head quarter in Wau.
