At least two people were killed and two heavy trucks were burnt by unknown gunmen on Thursday morning along Juba Nimule road.

Speaking to Radio Emmanuel, Chief of Ayii Boma, Marino Olal Elia says the incident happened between Kit three and Amee Junction in Iwire Payam of Magwi County.

He adds the two truck drivers were travelling from Juba to Nimule but fell into ambush.

In fact, what happen in my area on Thursday around 5:15 a.m, there are those trucks from Juba heading to Uganda have fell into an ambush of unknown gunmen in Kit 3 near Amee Junction when heading to Nimule so two containers’ trucks were shot and burnt with all the drivers. There were two people who lost their lives in the incident according to the report from the security personnel who reached the scene.”

“The incident created fear among residents of the surrounding area who are mainly returnees from neighbouring Uganda”, Chief Olal describes the incident.

“People are travelling now normally but there is fear in the community, I myself together with the army leaders around here are encouraging people not to worry. The security personnel carrying on with investigation, during the conflict, the same area used to be a dangerous place where vehicles were shot until the population in the area sought refuge in Uganda due to fear. So, with this one started, the government should look forward to finding out the offenders so that the living population should be safe and without fear because this is discouraging the people”. The chief adds.

The Boma chief made the statement to radio Emmanuel in a telephone interview from Ayii on Friday.
