UNHCR donates two vehicles to Yei Ministry of Health

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee or UNHCR on Wednesday donated an ambulance and a double cabin car to the former Yei River State Ministry of Health to enhance services delivery.
 
The ambulance is donated to Kajo-Keji county health department and the other to Yei River County health department.
 
Speaking during the hand over ceremony, representative of UNHCR head of office Cal Afun said the situation of corona virus pandemic delayed the delivery of the vehicles.
 
The official advised the medical authorities in the two counties to make good use of the vehicles.
 
South Sudan Health Association Coordinator, Abraham Guma, said ‘it is a pleasure to receive such a gift from UNHCR to boost the hospital’.
 
He explained that UNHCR has always been supporting Yei Hospital and earlier it installed solar system that lights the facility for twenty-four hours.
 
UNHCR also renovated Yei Civil Hospital and donated a machine for testing covid-19 in Yei Guma explained.
 
Yei Hospital Health Coordinator, John Manya Sebit, mentioned that UNHCR always supports greater Yei hospitals which health facilitates to do well compared to health facilities in other regions.
 
He promised to collaborate with the service providers to ensure good use of the vehicles.
 
Meanwhile Yei medical director Joseph Malish appreciated UNHCR for always responding positively to calls for support to the hospital.
 
He explained that it is important to inject resources in the local health facilities to improve the standard of the hospital than going outside the country for treatment.
 
Malish encouraged UNHCR to continue supporting the hospital when there is need for the betterment of the people of Yei.
 
The speakers made the remarks during the handover ceremony on Wednesday at the former Ministry of Health premise.
