Women need skills on leadership and conflict transformation, says officer

Women need to be empowered with skills and knowledge on areas of leadership and peace building, said Mustafa Adam, program officer for Reconcile International.
 
He said ‘the purpose of this training is to provide the space for women to discuss about the issues affecting them and come up with possible ways forward on how to address. And another thing is to equip women with skill and knowledge in the areas of leadership, conflict transformation, peace building and reconciliation because we realized that women are the primary actors in promoting community peace initiative’, Radio Emmanuel reported.
 
The official said women are the primary actors in building and promoting peace initiative among communities.
 
He added that when women are taught with skills on peace building, they will be in position to practice what is within their social space
 
‘If they acquired the skills, they will be in the position to practice what is within their social space, especially at family level, at community level, if some of them are working in offices they can used they are to acquire to promote the element of their leadership that the country wants or the community wants also they will be in the position to promote peace and peaceful coexistence within the space where they are because we release that women voices are not heard but it is very important also to build their capacity to achieved what they intend to achieve in all social spaces’.
 
The speaker made the remarks to radio Emmanuel on Tuesday during during the training of 45 women in Torit, Eastern Equatorial on leadership and conflict transformation in promoting peaceful among communities in the state.
 
The participants were drawn from religious institutions, business women and women from the parliament
