United Nations World Food Programme or WFP and Food and Agriculture Organization or FAO warned that recurring violence in Jonglei and Pibor Administrative Area is crippling the food security and livelihoods of growing numbers of people.

The UN agencies on Thursday said violence has already displaced more than 60,000 people, Bakhita Radio reported.

They expressed concerned that the violence has stopped farming, slashing harvests for the rest of the year and depriving communities of livestock as their source of nutrition.

The organizations said the violence has led to the looting of humanitarian food assistance that was meant to support the most vulnerable people.
