Director-General in the Ministry of Agriculture in the defunct Tonj State Dominic Mangong discouraged random cutting down of trees in the forest.
He mentioned that trees attract rain and if cut randomly, it can absolutely cause drought, Don Bosco Radio reported.
Mangong said only farmers are allowed to clear trees in their farms, but not for business.
The director-general enlightened the public that unnecessary cutting of trees affect all people but not individuals.
The speaker made the remarks on Wednesday in Tonj.
