South Sudan activist nominated for top American peace award

The United States Institute of Peace has announced the ten finalists for this year’s Women Building Peace Award.
 
South Sudan’s Executive director of Eve organization for Women Development Rita Martin Lopidia is among the ten women being recognized for their contribution to peace building in their countries.
 
She won the competition from over 150 nominations of women peace builders from 51 countries.
 
Rita says the award is an achievement to the people of South Sudan especially for women and youth.
 
Rita encourages young women and girls to be passionate about their work in order to achieve their dreams.
 
The United States Institute of Peace will announce the first recipient of the10, 000 dollars award during a virtual ceremony on September 15.
 
The award recognises women peace builders for their exemplary commitment and leadership in ending and preventing violent conflicts.
