Women’s rights activists are calling upon signatories to the peace agreement to appoint more women leaders in the remaining political positions at both national and state levels.

Member of Parliament Sara Nene urges the government to respect the 35% affirmative action enshrined in the peace agreement.

She adds more women need to be appointed at all levels of the government.

Civil Society activist Victoria Benjamin says she is concerned by the under representation of women in key leadership positions across the country.

The activists spoke to Bakhita radio in Juba over the weekend.
