A group of women known as Cepou Mat celebrated the ninth anniversary of South Sudan Independence on Thursday in Rumbek.
According to Good News Radio, the event brought together, leaders from different institutions including women, communities, police and army band.
Police Commissioner James Madut Ngor appealed to the communities and women groups to collaborate with police in protecting lives and property of citizens.
Shek Adam Ibrahim, leader of East African Community expressed his gratitude for being part of the celebrants of South Sudan Independence.
He acknowledged women suffering across the country and asked God to help them cope with the situation.
Chairperson of Cepou Mat, Juzeila Agar Juma, called on the police to be friendly to civilians and continue their duties of protecting lives of citizens.
The women’s leadership vowed to take lead in uniting people of Lakes State and South Sudan through patriotism and nationalism.
