The Ambassador of United States of America to South Sudan urges citizens to focus on the importance of independence in their country.
Thomas Hushek says this year South Sudan may not celebrate the day in a very special way due to the global pandemic.
He encourages people to think about the meaning of independence to a country.
The ambassador adds the South Sudan peace process is going on well despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic.
Ambassador Thomas stresses at this time of transitional period many parts of the peace agreement will be fulfilled.
‘It’s time to prepare for election, security sector reform; demobilization and transition Justice these reforms are supposed to be as part of the peace dividends’, the ambassador reiterates.
Ambassador Hushek wishes the people of South Sudan happy independence and encourages them to work together for peace in the country.
The US ambassador made the remarks on Wednesday during the inauguration of hand washing facility at Juba international Airport.
