A number of farmers in Eldo Payam of Heiban County, Nuba Mountains say they were happy after receiving first heavy rainfall on Monday.
Speaking to Voice of Peace Radio farmer Nasra Hamad Chaliro, says she is grateful to God because it has rained and there is water for crops to grow and animals to drink.
She adds it was difficult to continue planting crops due to delay of rainfall this year.
Another farmer Siny Adam Kagney says he had almost lost hope due to lack of rain.
He expects more rainfall in the coming days so that everyone can cultivate their farm to feed their family and animals.
Adam encourages herders to keep their cattle away from farmlands.
He advises farmers to carry on with planting crops although this year rains have delayed.
A 23 year old mother Nyandeng Ibrahim Brinji advises cattle-keepers to move their animals away from farmlands to avoid destroying crops.
