The outgoing ambassador of the United States of America to South Sudan Thomas Hushek urged the leaders in the country to start preparing for national elections.
He told Bakhita Radio that the appointment of the state governors was an important step in the implementation of the peace process.
The diplomat urged the leaders to be transparent when they meet in order for the citizens to gain confidence.
Hushek said this is the right time to prepare for the elections.
The US envoy said the people of South Sudan deserve to get their leaders through free and fair elections.
Thomas Hushek, who came to the US Embassy in Juba, South Sudan in August 2017, is set to depart the country after completing his term of service.
