The government and UN Reproductive Health Agency launched a joint call to end child marriage in South Sudan.
United Nations Population Fund or UNFPA representative Dr. Mary Otieno says South Sudan is among countries with high rate of child marriage and gender-based violence.
Vice President for Gender and Youth Cluster, Rebecca Nyandeng Garang says half of girls in South Sudan are married before 18 years.
She calls for increased efforts to combat child marriage in the country.
The call was made during the launch of state of world population 2020 report on Tuesday in Juba.
