Communities of Jur River in Western Bahr el Ghazal State and those of Tonj South in Warrap State on Thursday held inter-communal dialogue under the theme: ‘Yes to peace, no to communal violence’.
Acting Secretary-General of Tonj, Malwaj Garang Malwaj at Kuarjena Payam Headquarters of Jur River County, said thousands of people lost their lives and thousand others evacuated their villages due to hostilities.
He added that citizens are the most affected people from all the violence.
‘We should seek forgiveness from each other and change our behaviours to live in harmony and peace’, he advised.
Secretary-General of Western Bahr el Ghazal, Remijo Hassan Saverio said the meeting aimed at resolving the ongoing hostilities between the two communities.
He said as the communities gathered to forgive and forget the past, le them find a peaceful to coexistence.
The two communities will establish committees to find out loses and look for possible recoveries towards them, he disclosed.
The meeting brought together a number of participants including security forces MPs, youth, and chiefs amongst others.
The officials spoke to media during the inter-communal dialogue meeting between the two communities on Thursday at Kuarjena Payam Headquarters of Jur River County.
