COVID-19 laboratory results to be used as evidence to travel outside Juba

The Public Health Laboratory results on COVID-19 would be used as evidence to travel outside Juba, disclosed Dr Mathew Tut, Emergency Preparedness Manager of the national Health Ministry.
 
He told the press on Sunday that the change came after there were irregularities during issuing the certificate on the pandemic status.
 
Dr Tut revealed that the country has seven Polymerase Chain Reaction machines that would be used for testing COVID-19 samples, another one would be installed in Wau, Western Bahr El- Ghazal State, and a mobile laboratory would also be in Nimule.
 
There is a proposal of using Juba Teaching Hospital new building to quarantine and treat coronavirus patients, he disclosed.
 
The Public Health Laboratory will use five Polymerase Chain Reaction machines in Juba and can run the sample results within one hour so that individuals get it fast, said the manager.
 
He added that the pandemic increased to ten cases in Yei, with four in Yambio, Torit, Aweil, Lakes also protection of civilians’ sites in Juba and Bentiu.
 
The country stands at 1,755 cases of COVID-19, 62 new cases recorded on Sunday as last 24 hours results, while 58 patients recovered and deaths hit thirty.
