The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO called on the new undersecretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Mayen Machut Achiek to create reforms in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in South Sudan.
CEPO Executive Director Edmond Yakani told the media in Juba that any decision taken to fight coronavirus must be based on the advice of medical experts.
He advised the new undersecretary Dr Machut to prioritize safety and welfare of health workers.
President Salva Kiir on Wednesday relived Dr. Makur Matur Koryom as the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Health and replaced him by Dr. Mayen.
Makur’s removal came amid reports of wrangles within the health team fighting against the virus in the country.
As of June 7 2020, South Sudan has confirmed 1604 cases, 19 deaths and 15 recoveries.
