United Nations Children’s Fund or UNICEF in partnership with the state Ministry of General Education and Instruction launches Radio learning program in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal.
The initiative is to keep school children engaged in studies after closure of all learning institutions due to the coronavirus in the country.
UNICEF Education Specialist Lucy Lomodon says the UN agency decided to launch the radio learning program to create awareness because most of the families in Wau are not aware of the initiative.
Representative from the Ministry of Education urges all parents to direct their children to learn through the Radio program.
The radio learning lessons are from Monday to Friday, starting at 10:00 to 11:00 AM for primary pupils while Secondary School students begin from 2:00 to 3:00 Pm.
In March 2020, South Sudan suspends all learning institutions as a way of mitigating the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
