Police Commissioner in Yei Major General Yoasa Lujang Kamba on Thursday confirmed to Radio Easter that three people were killed and five others were wounded along Yei-Juba road ambush on June 12.
He accused NAS forces for attacking a police vehicle at Laliyu stream, five miles from Lainya County.
The vehicle survived the first attack, but later after given escort to Yei by the SSPDF forces they fell into another ambush which killed the three people and injured several others, Major General Lujang explained.
He said those who died on spot included one Somali man and two South Sudanese.
The Police Commissioner stressed that the attack was a surprise, but the SSPDF soldiers repulsed the NAS force and brought the death and wounded people to Yei Civil Hospital.
Yei Civil Hospital Medical Director mentioned that they received five patients who are undergoing treatment.
Two patients had minor injuries and responded quickly to the treatment and were discharged, but that one patient is expected to be referred to Juba for further treatment, he explained.
