Executive Director of the Woman Advancement Organization Susan Pasquale blamed the government for neglecting survivors of sexual violence in the country.

Radio Bakhita quoted her saying authorities are not doing enough to support survivors of sexual violence across South Sudan.

Mrs Pasquale cited the cases of an eight-year-old girl who was raped in Gudele over the weekend.

She complained that the little girl was not given adequate medical and psychological support upon admission to Juba Teaching Hospital.

The activist also blamed the country’s weak laws for the rise in cases of sexual abuses in the country.

She demanded strict enforcement of laws to prosecute perpetrators of sexual violence in South Sudan.

Family Protection Centre of Juba Teaching Hospital health workers reported one hundred eighty-three cases of gender-based violence between January and April this year.
