Archbishop Stephen Ameyu Martin of Juba disclosed formation of a Covid-19 taskforce committee last week to carry out awareness in all parishes.
He said the Church can easily reach remote areas to preach the preventive measures against the virus.
‘You know this taskforce is complementary. You know it is always good to have a national taskforce, but at the grassroots level I don’t think the high taskforce can reach the villages. The Churches have a better place to reach the people down in the villages’, he explained.
Archbishop Ameyu said the taskforce is not only giving awareness to the Catholic community, but it will help every citizen in the country.
The catholic prelate disclosed that the taskforce will help sick people in hospitals and other institutions to complement the role of the national taskforce.
South Sudan Council of Churches has already formed the taskforce to make the citizens aware of the deadly virus.
