Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO Coordinator in Western Bahr el Ghazal State raised concerns that the bordering areas to South Sudan are real threat for entrance of coronavirus to the country.
Stephen Robo Musa said they still witness movement of citizens from the neighboring countries and Raja County is one of the bordering areas to Sudan, and there are confirmed cases of coronavirus in Darfur, Voice of Hope Radio reported.
There is lack of compliance to the curfew and lockdown was announced in the country regarding movements and transportation within the states, he disclosed.
Robo also revealed that traders and citizens are still entering to South Sudan through Raja illegally,
He urged the state and national governments to observe the matter.
Robo clarified that, during his visit to Raja County, he observed that people enter without being screened on their health statuses to ensure safety from contracting the virus.
He urged government to look at these concerns with care to avoid danger to South Sudanese and other citizens.
The activist explains there’s a need from the local authorities in Raja to monitor citizen’s movement from their areas because this is the point that can helps in entrance of the virus.
He called on the high level taskforce to provides testing machines to borders in order to ensure control of wilder spread of the virus to the states.
The official spoke to Voice of Hope Radio on Wednesday after his visit to Raja County last week.
