Learners in Yei resort to domestic activities due to Covid-19

School children in Yei have resorted to do domestic activities in order to get money for their fees since learning institutions were closed in the country due to the corona virus pandemic.
 
Margret Semira, a student of Immanuel Model Secondary School, explained that since the lockdown they have remain at homes and working hard to get money for buying their scholastic requirements, Radio Easter reported.
 
She mentioned that they sell long sticks, collect river sand and break stones for constructions as ways of getting money.
 
Semira disclosed that small children are seriously practicing covid-19 preventive measures to protect them from contacting the disease.
 
Grace Dawa, a pupil of Salam United Primary School, explained that they are raising money to support their parents who are unable to pay their school requirements.
 
She wonders whether education institutions can still reopens as they missed being in school to associate with their teachers and friends.

She clarified that children have taken seriously the preventive measures for containing covid-19 than the adults.
 
The pupil said they always respect the guidelines by not shaking hands and maintain social distancing.
 
Meanwhile Elunai Shaiba, an orphan, explained that they are committed to doing agriculture projects during the lockdown.
 
He said their work has helped them to get money to buy food, clothes and pay school fees.
 
The boy encouraged all learners in Yei to commit themselves to work hard in order to get money ready for their fees when school resumes.
