‘Work hard in order to sustain good lives’; Fr. Joseph Chisomo of Sacred Heart Parish in Tonj of the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek encouraged Christians.

While preaching during morning mass over the radio, he said people sustain good lives through hard work.

Fr Chisomo noted that many South Sudanese are pastoralists, making them disliking farming activities as they always look after cattle forgetting the fertile land in Africa.

He advised people to work hard since it is written in the Bible that God created the world through working.

The priest revealed that some people think that work is a punishment, but actually not true, it is for one to earn his or her life.

Fr Chisomo added that work gives people dignity and high respect in the community.

The priest mentioned that many learners aim for special courses and white scholar jobs, neglecting the manual works like building, carpentry which are highly paid.

The priest concluded that hard work always makes people happy, if they work so hard.

He also said ‘scientists are working so hard to defeat coronavirus and why don’t we sit down and discuss how to bring Jesus in our hearts’.

‘Sometimes we may be lacking joy and happiness in our hearts due to the fact that we don’t work’, he noted.
