Voice for Change is training law enforcement agencies, including legal justice actors on gender-based violence in Yei.

The training brought together 25 participants from the police, prison and chiefs, says Clement Yope, Program Manager, Radio Easter reported.

The objective of the training is to know more about gender-based violence, prevent and response to survivors.

Another objective includes understanding the difference between the customary justice systems and legal or criminal legal system for chiefs to know the types of cases they handle and their implications.

Warrant Officer at Yei Prison, Charity Dudu appreciates Voice for Change for inviting the law enforcement agencies and legal justice actors to be trained on how to manage and address cases of gender-based violence.

She mentioned that they learnt about gender issues and corona virus.

The warrant officer urges women to report rape cases to Martha Clinic, St Bakhita Health Center and Yei Civil Hospital for treatment and to police for legal procedures.

She advised the state government and traditional leaders to stand firm against women issues.
