South Sudan’s first mobile money, M-Gurush launched its cross-border money transfer services on Monday in Juba.
Governor of the Bank of South Sudan Jamal Wani Abdalla during the ceremony said the service will benefit South Sudanese communities abroad and in the neighboring countries, Radio Bakhita reported.
He says m-gurush will further improve socio–economic development and digitally connect the country to her other East African Community counterparts.
Mou Ambrose Thiik, M-Gurush Chief of Operations, said the customers can now hold money in USD or South Sudanese Pounds in their m-Gurush mobile wallet and send it to their beloved once abroad.
He explained that sending money to neighboring countries is simple, the customers should just dial *355# and then select international remittances from their m-gurush account.
Ambrose said customers will now be able to send money across East Africa and beyond digitally, inform of US Dollars or South Sudanese Pounds from their m-gurush account.
