Hunger becomes major effect of Covid-19 lockdown in Rumbek

Some citizens in Rumbek town say hunger in the state and country wide has become a major site effect of Covid-19 lockdown, Lakes State after the national High-level Taskforce decided to put the country under the lockdown.
 
Good News Radio quoted one anonymous speaker saying the decision is good to prevent the disease from spreading, but government should have thought of other ways of averting the hunger in the country.
 
Thon Dau, Rumbek University Lecturer says the government has not released salaries of civil servants since last year.
 
He says it should have leased their salaries to stock enough food items before declaring lockdown.
 
On Wednesday, the South Sudan High-Level Taskforce for COVID-19 extended the country’s partial lockdown until further notice. 
 
That means all schools and many shops will remain closed, as well as South Sudan’s borders and Juba International Airport.
