Reconstruct and sustainable development of the Country can only be achieved through peace and education Mono Robert, DI Senior Education officer to Radio Emmanuel during training of Parents Teachers Association members on Tuesday in Torit

‘As we think of the reconstruction of our country, I think education is one of the thing that we know it can really lead to the sustainable community development be it in term of awareness, in terms of peace we are yearning for, in term of livelihood, unless we put a lot of efforts to develop education in our country, then there is no way to meet the development of our nation, he said.

‘The PTA has a very big to play in this because the PTA are the one makes the entire community aware what the school needs, so it is my appeal to the community that you should not leave school affairs to teachers only let’s not leave school affairs to head teachers only lets actively participate’, he pleaded.

Mono encouraged both teachers and parents to exert more efforts on the education activities for a better South Sudan.

Meanwhile Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School Management Committee leader Christine Dudu who participated in the training appreciates the initiative and that skills acquired will help manage their schools and enhance participation of PTAs in the school activities.

‘This training is important to me, I have to know the role of MCM and even the role of PTA it will help me in my school. Challenges we had in the school are earlier marriage of the school girl so as we have come for the training, we know how to address them and how to talk with these girls now. I have message to tell to the people should send their children to school parents should also support girls to come to school’, she noted.

Dudu encouraged the parents to send their children to school and fully support them in their education needs.

Another participant Tabu Charles who heads Torit West primary school admits that the training will govern the PTA, managing committee and teachers towards the challenges they have been experiencing.

‘I think this training is going to help a lot at least for the smooth running of the schools, so we have the PTA, we the managing committee and we have the teachers, the three bodies are going to work hand by hand at least for the school run properly. In fact, we have been having other challenges before like the body of PTA they were not really performing their roles and their duty and the same thing also to the school management committee they were not performing their role and duty, I am sure now in this training they going to know where they supposed to act’, he admitted.

The three-day training that started on Tuesday and drew Parents-Teachers Association teams from ten primary schools in Torit, is ending on Thursday.
