Bannbatt-3 of UNMISS organizes football competition for young people in Tonj south county to promote unity and peaceful coexistence in the community.
The tournament is under the theme ‘football for peace’
The first game was between Ghazal United and Deng Nhial Fc in which Ghazal was defeated during penalties.
Speaking to Don Bosco Radio a representative of Banbatt-3 Major Badrul says the reason of organizing the sports competition is to bring the youth of Tonj together.
Major Badrul assures citizens about presences of the protection forces in Tonj to ensure safety and security of people in the area.
Meanwhile the assistant chairperson of Tonj local football association Velantino Machar Ater reaffirm that the aim of the tournament is to unite young people and promote peace in the area.
He also points out that football is a symbol of unity and it does not discriminate people regardless of where they come from.
Eight teams will participate in the tournament and knockout system will be used in order to determine the winners of the games.
