Former Torit State Ministry of Education on Friday announced South Sudan Secondary Certificate exams results for 2019 academic year.
Director-General Odumtula Hillary Okumu said 17 centres sat for the exams across former Torit State with a little improvement realized in the results.
He acknowledged improvement in the performance despite economic hardship.
‘In this announcement the total number of 17 secondary schools who sat across the former Torit state has presented candidate for South Sudan certificate for secondary education examination centers, despite the current economic crisis in the country, education in the former Torit state, as seen from the result analysis is progressing well. However, the registration for the candidates for the unified South Sudan certificate for secondary education examination in 2018 was 1,118 to 1,484 in 2019. This constitute an increment of 366 candidates, equivalent to an increase of 25%’, explained the director-general.
Hillary said the results indicate that only 130 students failed in the exams while 1,342 students passed the examination
Twelve students did not sit for their exams out of 1,484 students who registered for the examination, he added.
‘In general performance the total of candidates who registered in 2019 is 1,484, then the total of candidates who sat is 1, 472, total candidates who did not sit are 12, total number of candidates who passed 1,342, total number of candidates who failed are they are 130, therefore percentage pass this year is 91.2%, percentage failed is only 8%’, the director-general noted.
Male candidates performed higher with 98 percent pass compared to female candidates who scored 81.2 percent.
