Avoid unnecessary burning of bushes that causes fire in villages, Fr Thomas Bagbiowia, Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio advised the entire citizens of Western Equatoria region.
He speaking to Anisa FM Radio appealed to the people to join hands and be part of the long standing problem of bush fires.
The Vicar appealed to all leaders to sensitize the community on the effects of bush fires as the responsibility of preserving the environment starts with individuals.
Fr Bagbiowia pointed out that children mostly need to be educated on the effects of playing with fire.
Fr Thomas urged the people to love one another during this Lenten season by also loving each other and their property and educating each other on disaster preparedness.
The Vicar-General was speaking after about six households were burnt down by fire in Nzara County, Western Equatoria State.
