The Civil Society Organization Forum in Yei is calling on political parties to the agreement to speed up the formation of the transitional government of national unity.

The call came after a delay in appointment of the ministers and division of the ministries which brings a lot of fear in the hearts and minds of civilians, Radio Easter reported.

Mustafa Adam Chairperson of the Forum explained that when the formation of the presidency was completed, it brought a lot of hope to civilians.

The chairperson called on the parties to the agreement to compromise with some issues in order to enable complete formation of the transitional government.

Adam stressed that appropriate criteria should be followed considering the 35 percent allocated for the women.

Adam mentioned that out of the 35 ministries in the transitional government ten are supposed to be headed by women.

He noted that civilians are not going to be happy, if the parties delay with the formation of transitional government.

Another activist, Dara Felix, commended the efforts of the leaders for the progress made citing that the momentum has increased the confidence and trust in citizens in the government.

He explained that the more the parties continue to disagree on certain things, it increases fear and washes away the hopes civilians gained in the last few days.

Felix strongly urged the peace partners to compromise and follow the procedures in regards to the selection of ministries and the positions they are entitled.

The activist called on the parties to respect the national constitutional amendment committee as the legitimate institute that receives the appointment list to be scrutinized.

New life and hope is trying to come up in Yei when the government reverted the 32 states into ten and the formation of the presidency on the 22nd Feb 2020.

The speakers released the statement to Radio Easter on Friday in Yei.
