The United States ambassador to South Sudan Thomas Hushek on Wednesday visited Rumbek for first time to acquaint himself with Loreto community in Lakes State.
Loreto Secondary School Director Sister Orla Treacy said the US diplomat is to see the work of Loreto sisters in nurturing the future of the young generation of South Sudan, Good News Radio reported.
She said they are working together with the South Sudanese and East African community members for the welfare of the young country.
Ambassador Hushek said the ideas and hope of the United States for South Sudan is to see young people in getting freedom to education and support peace process.
The diplomat said America believes that peace will only work in South Sudan, if all citizens are educated, and there is promotion of girls’ education countrywide.
The speakers made the remarks at Loreto compound on Wednesday in Rumbek.
