Elders in the Catholic Diocese of Torit advise young people to be exemplary in order to become good leaders.
Sister Felicia Humwara while speaking on behalf of elders encourages youth that one cannot become good priest, or sister or mother without commitment to the church, Radio Emmanuel reports.
‘Today is a day for advice because it is our day and you the youth in front of us you are particular grace to the society and the community. There is no life that starts without honouring the youth. There will be no priest without the youth, this is the process in which all of us have gone through that is why today we acquire some titles’, she explained.
Meanwhile Paska Hifita Oduho says the church without youth is like an animal without backbone.
She calls on young people to take part in the church through praising and singing to the Lord and respecting other opinions to avoid bad characters in the community.
While Fr Kamilo Afore, Acting Pastoral Coordinator appreciates the young people for their active participation in the daily liturgical celebration.
He calls upon young men and women to use their energy to give thanks to the almighty.
‘It is a concern that the youth make the majority in our own parishes that they are the ones actually very active in liturgical celebration without them the church will be very dull. It is the youthful energies that God gives you to realize your potential. Channel that energy well, have the strength to stand and sing, use it for the glory of God’, he encourages.
The Speakers were talking after mass exchange program between St Augustine Choir of Sts Peter and Paul and Cecilia Choir of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary on Sunday.
