Torit State Police authorities have confirmed the killing of a man at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery on Wednesday night by unknown people.
Speaking to Radio Emmanuel, Police Spokesperson Major Justine Kileopus Takuru says the body of Garang Alfred Odongi, who was a resident of Hillieu village, was discovered on Thursday morning.
Major Kileopus says according to the investigation, the murderers attacked and killed the deceased using either knife, stones or other harmful objects.
He says no suspects have been arrested but the government is gathering information about the incidence.
‘This problem is in Mairo to the cemetery behind Radio Emmanuel. This person is found killed because according to the investigation, this person was chop three times with a knife, also thrown with three bricks on his head, the shirt was removed and the trouser was pull down. This boy is called Garang Alfred Odongi. He is from Hilieu and every month, he takes money of wounded heroes’.
Police Spokesperson Maj Kileopus calls on the family of the late to be patient as investigations are ongoing to arrest culprits.
He calls on the local population to stop unnecessary movement at night and reduce over consumption of alcohol.
‘I am saying death is death. It is always personal protection. I am appealing to the family to be patient. We have investigation is going on. So they have to be patient. Then to our citizens, as I say before, we should not drink a lot. At least you should protect yourself such that people should also protect you. Someone should not move anyhow. Like this one had wanted to go to the village at late hours’.
The Police Spokesperson confirms that the security situation is calm.
