Saints Peter and Paul Parish of Gidel in Nuba Mountains of the Catholic Diocese of El-Obeid celebrated the feast of Saint Bakhita on Sunday.
Speaking to the faithful, El-Obeid Vicar General, Edward Anthony Minawi, said St Bakhita had suffered much during the slavery era in the hands of her captives and later sold to an Italian man who sent her to school and became a Sister.
He explained that St Bakhita is light and healer to Sudanese people and the rest of people in the world who had suffered.
Fr Minawi mentioned that in the contemporary world of today, some people have chosen to be slaves because of love for money, wealth, sex and self-centered interests.
