The Director of Crime Officer, 2nd Lieutenant Adam Satiro Emmanuel cautions drivers and motorcyclists in Torit to reduce their speed limit while driving and riding in public places.
Last week, Police authorities registered two incidences of road accidents within two days.
Speaking to Radio Emmanuel, Lt Satiro reports that his office has registered serious cases of road accidents last week.
He says two people are currently receiving medication at Torit State Hospital as a result of road accident.
‘Accidents occur here in Torit, this week there were two cases of accidents reported. There was one between a car and a motorcycle and this accident happened along Torit day Secondary School and also there was one that happened around 7:30pm at night, a motorbike going side of Longute also it got people walking along the road side, the motorbike went between the two people and knocked them down, there condition was bad but were admitted at the hospital, in all the accidents no death case reported’
Lt. Satiro says traffic authorities are working hard to curb cases of road accidents in the state.
He further calls on the drivers to move at a speed of 30 or 40 to reduce accidents along the roads.
‘we are working, we as the patrollers we are working 24 hours’ day and night, we are working at any accident that happens.my message is going to drivers, people driving vehicles, riding motorcycles. If you are driving a car you should not drive in high speed. You go in a slow speed, if you are moving at a speed of 30 or 40,you should not go beyond that and for the bodabodas,we are talking to them every day a lot that everyone riding bodaboda they are riding at speed which is not good, my message is going to the bodaboda riders, they should ride slowy.torit is a small town, you should not hurry. It is the reason you get accidents because here in Torit there are few vehicles and we don’t have a lot of motorcycles at this capacity there is no traffic jam. The capacity of vehicles and motorcycles is not there but one will be going alone but going in high speed is the reason causing accidents. There are accidents in over speeding’
According to Director, careless and reckless driving is one of the causes of increased rate of accidents in the state, calling on drivers and riders to observe traffic rules and regulation
