Tonj State Police Commissioner Nhial Nhial Machol confirmed that the night patrols arrested five men on Sunday over an attack in one of the residential areas and they are in the police custody for investigations.
He told Don Bosco Radio on Monday that the criminals were arrested after they attacked the house of deputy speaker of Tonj State Transitional Legislative Assembly.
‘Based on what was said by the suspects, they claim themselves to be from Thony community of Manyang-Ngok, but after being proved, they were not from Thony. One was from Yar County and another one from Apuk-juwiir of Thiet County and some individuals’, revealed the commissioner.
‘The investigation is ongoing and if they are found guilty then they will bear the consequences’. Nhial warned.
He said it is a collective responsibility of every person or citizen to ensure that there is peace in and around the state.
The arrested criminals were not allowed to speak to the media.
