Torit Premier League resumed after two weeks closure due to misunderstanding between referees and board of directors.
The closure came when the board of directors Torit Local Football Association suspended one referee for forcing referees to stop their work in the tournament.
Torit Local Football Association chairperson Juma Joe Adriano told Radio Emmanuel that the league restarted after the board of directors and referees resolved the matter that led to the closure of the tournament.
‘There were some issues regarding administrative issues with the association which led to the closure of the tournament for now two weeks of which we resolved it amicably with the referees and currently the matches are on. It was the issue between one of the referees who was suspended and it was actually an administrative measures taken against him by the board of directors after realizing that he has committed some offences within the football association’, he explained.
Meanwhile head of referees of Torit Local Football Association Olibo George said there was lack of proper coordination among referees.
‘There was an event which took place in the football ground here in the freedom square, we were not informed in fact it was on the thirteen when I brought all the referees here, but we got people were preparing for the football ground we could not even play that time and in fact as the president of Torit local football association put that one of the referees was suspended, it was not his own fault but he was suspended because of the problem of other referees. He was just the mediator mediating between other referees and the board of directors of Torit Local Football Association. Due to that mediation may be some of the referees aired some words that were bitter to the members of the board of directors that is why they suspended the secretary of the referees’, George elaborated.
He called for cooperation between administration and referees for the smooth running of sport activities in the state.
